Seating plans

With the seating plan add-on you sell your tours and tickets with reserved seating, whether on a ship, on a bus, on a plane or in a hall. In the seating plan editor you draw decks or floors with tables, seat rows and standing zones and assign price classes to the seats. In the booking widget your guests choose their seats directly on the plan or have them assigned automatically. Rules such as “Book adjacent seats only” are checked during selection, and each seat can only be booked once per date. In the calendar, the seat map of each date shows which seats are free, held, booked or blocked. The booked seat appears on the ticket and can be changed in “My booking” if you allow this for the product.

Create a seating plan

The seating plan editor in the dashboard

When you create a seating plan, you choose one of four environments: ship, bus / van, airplane or hall / room. You then add tables and seat rows and, depending on the environment, standing zones, love seats, beds or cabins. A plan can have several decks or floors, and every seat gets a label of its own. Single seats, whole rows or tables can be blocked and are then not bookable on any date. For mobile devices you can create a separate version of the plan and rotate its layout.

Layouts for ship, bus, airplane and hall

Ship, bus / van and airplane come with layout elements of their own, for example decks with different bow and stern shapes. The airplane layout offers small aircraft and helicopters as well as airliners. Theatres, cinemas, halls and arenas are built in the hall / room environment from zones and curved seat rows. You draw other floor plans yourself, point by point, for example a railway carriage.

Prices per price class and person type

You create price classes with a name and a colour in the seating plan settings and assign them to the seats in the editor. In the product you enter a separate price for every combination of person type and price class, including each volume tier and price rule. For person types such as babies you can set that they do not need a seat of their own. The number of bookable seats comes automatically from the assigned seating plan.

Rules for seat selection

In the seating plan settings under “Logic & rules” you specify that the seats of a booking must be next to each other and that no single-seat gaps remain. If a party does not fit at one table or in one row, it can be split across several tables or rows. With deck release waves, individual decks or floors only become bookable from a set time before the event starts. If automatic seating is switched on, a single click in the widget assigns free seats that meet all the rules.

Seat on the ticket and seat change

In the ticket template you add the seat as a data field, either all seats of the booking or the seat of each person. In the order, the seats of a booking can be changed afterwards. If seat changes are allowed in the product, your guests can change their seats in “My booking” up to a deadline you set. If the new seats cost more, your guests pay the surcharge before the change, and for cheaper seats you refund the difference yourself.
